Creative nomad | Estonia
Laura Kurs is from Estonia, which is, as she described, a small country situated in the far North of Europe 🙂 She is about to turn 28 and for her biggest joy she can say that today she is working as a FREELANCER (mostly) in communications and PR.
But not only that! She would actually describe herself as a Creative Nomad as she shares her time, energy and skills beside communications/PR also between fields such as event management and media production. Now she has also taken up her first styling projects and on a modest scale she does visual consultancy for graphic designers and video artists. She mainly works with fashion related projects and musicians, in addition to that she co-operates with one of the biggest media agencies in Estonia and produce content for their various channels. This spring semester she is also reading a class about ‘Communications for Major Fashion Events’ at the Estonian Academy of Arts.
The reason why Laura likes to describe herself as a “Creative Nomad” is simple – she has worked in fields such as TV production, journalism, event management, communications and fashion. There is a reason why she hasn't settled for routine and is always ready to take on another adventure! Accepting various challenging positions has helped her shape her understanding in where her strengths lay and… Where not! Her motto is – stick to what you are excellent at but do not let excellent turn into comfortable!
As you can see, she has truly dive in the world of communications, journalism and design – and she is actually really happy about ALL the different tasks that she has been able to take on. Being a creative mind today does not mean that you have to stick to a certain field. When one has ambition and ideas to contribute and sprinkle around the whole creative sphere then – why not!? That's what I am doing now and enjoying it to the fullest!
